Curriculum & Program Goals
We offer a vast array of lessons which are designed to encourage children to actively
explore and manipulate the wide variety of materials we provide for them. These lessons
are constructed to help children develop skills in seven core areas: self-concept,
movement, language, logic, self-help, socialization, and creativity.
Our rooms are divided into carefully structured activity areas. During a large part of
each day, children explore freely while supported and guided by teachers. Our staff is
trained to find ways to give children choices and help them make their own decisions.
We develop children's imaginations, reasoning skills and self-confidence by emphasizing
creative problem-solving. Art, dramatic play, science experiments and discussions are
utilized to encourage them to work and think creatively. The emphasis is on the discovery
or learning process, not on whether something is done "right" or on time.
Our teachers ask a lot of questions. They encourage
children's discussion. They are trained to create learning
environments that put the emphasis on making
learning happen rather than on "teaching" in the traditional
sense.
Our four age appropriate outdoor play areas, as well as indoor
gross motor centers are set up for the development of a child's large
muscles. Opportunities are provided for climbing, cycling,
exercising and other forms of active play.
Although we do not teach doctrine of any kind, we do use Bible
stories, songs and prayers at various times to enforce Christian
principles and develop moral values through the learning of God's love.
